We harvest, ferment and age each grape variety by separate. It is only before bottling that we blend them together. The grapes were harvested by hand early in the morning and then taken to the winery in small crates, where they were selected and pressed. After a 24h settling the must was racked into 500-litre barrels of French oak, where they went through the alcoholic fermentation.
After the fermentation, the wine remained in the same 500-litre barrels on its fine lees for 10 months. We have selected the oak types and coopers that respect the identity of our wine

Miguel Merono startete seine Karriere als Weinexporteur in den 1970er Jahren, begann aber bald schon, von einer eigenen kleinen Bodega zu träumen. Anfang der 1990er wurde er in Briones, im Herzen der Rioja Alta, fündig: Alte, steile Weinberge, verschiedene Bodentypen und ein vergleichweise kühles, atlantisches Klima waren genau was, was er gesucht hatte, 1994 brachte er seine erste Ernte ein. Nachdem sie sich in der internationalen Weinwelt umgesehen hatten, stiegen Miguel Merino Junior und seine Frau Érika 2017 in das für die Verhältnisse in der Rioja mit gerade einmal 13 Hektar sehr kleine Weingut ein und ist seitdem für den Keller verantwortlich. Am Weinstil hat er nichts geändert: Eleganz, Balance und Harmonie zählen bei den Weinen, Holz, das ohnehin nur sehr behutsam eingesetzt wird, steht im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Weingütern der Rioja nie im Vordergrund.
